DESCRIPTION:The first-ever White Center 5K Walk and Run – which will serve as a fundraiser for two local non-profits – is coming to White Center Heights Park on Saturday, Feb. 16.    "This first WC5K is a fundraising event to help promote a more healthy and active lifestyle for our families and friends of White Center," reads an announcement."All proceeds of this event will support the ongoing work of two local non-profit organizations - White Center Community Development Association (CDA) and the YES Foundation of White Center."    This event is being organized by a team of youth from our community and college graduates from White Center with the support of the CDA and Yes Foundation," said Sokha Danh of the White Center Community Development Association. "We will have the works – including an official timing service from Oregon that will come up to help time the event, booths with vendors and music!"    SPONSORS NEEDED  Sokha adds also that they are seeking sponsors, vendors, and volunteers, etc. to make this an even more successful event! We acccomplish this through our three lines of business: neighborhood revitalization, family development, and community building.   YES Foundation of White Center  The YES foundation of White Center exists to address the social, economic, educational, physical, and spiritual needs of youth in the White Center area. By developing programs and partnering with other organizations, we provide kids with positive role models and powerful life experiences to encourage their hope and vision for the future.    Here are the details:    WHAT: The first-ever WC5K Fundraiser!    WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. – Noon (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.). The event will be followed by a "passport to White Center," in which all participants will be able to get discounts on selected White Center businesses and restaurants!    WHERE: White Center Heights Park, located at SW 102nd & 7th Ave SW, and will be open to all ages and skill levels.    COST: $30 (ages 11-54), $25 (ages 55+), and kids 10 and under are free.    REGISTER: Please register online at http://whitecenter5k.brownpapertickets.com/ Registration includes a free T-SHIRT!    INFO: The day will consist of a family friendly 5K run/walk and a Passport to White Center, in which participants collect stamps as they try out a variety of food samples in selected restaurants at a discounted price. Upon completing their passport, participants are eligible to enter a drawing to win a prize.
