The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting of an incident that “just might be a first” for officers:

Police say that Monday, March 2, 2020 about 1:30 p.m., deputies attempted to arrest a felony warrant suspect in White Center near SW 106th Street and 26th Ave SW (map below).

As wanted persons sometimes like to do, the suspect took off running. But Deputy Click was right on his heels.

Deputy Hancock jumped in his patrol car, activated his overhead lights and began following the suspect while Deputy Click continued the foot pursuit.

Deputy Hancock got ahead of the suspect, parked his patrol car in the road and got out in an attempt to catch the suspect.

Meanwhile, Deputy Click is still on foot continuing to pursue the suspect. Concerned Deputy Click would catch him, the suspect ran while looking over his shoulder. As a consequence, the suspect didn’t notice Deputy Hancock’s patrol car parked in the road and …thud…he ran right in to the back of the car. The suspect bounced off and was arrested by Deputies Hancock and Click.

The suspect was not injured and was very apologetic about leaving that dent in the side of the patrol car.

The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for his felony warrant.
