Hear from elected and appointed King County leaders and department staffers about how your local government is delivering services during the COVID-19 pandemic at a Community Service Area Town Hall this Thursday, Oct. 15 via Zoom.

King County Councilmember Joe McDermott will discuss the North Highline/White Center area from 7-9 p.m.

Participants can join via phone by calling 253-215-8782 and providing the meeting ID number: 959 3261 3768 (passcode 900924959), or via Zoom at https://kingcounty.zoom.us/j/95932613768 (case-sensitive passcode is VOTE2020!)

This White Center/North Highline virtual meeting is one of 10 virtual Town Hall events that King County Local Services has scheduled for unincorporated areas this year.

“As with just about everything in 2020, Local Services had to think creatively about how to deliver these popular, usually in-person events while COVID-19 limits public gatherings,” organizers said. “Last year, hundreds of residents turned out to hear directly from King County leaders and officials, explore government services, and more at these events in their communities. Even though the pandemic has all but eliminated the in-person format, King County continues its commitment to inform and hear from the residents of the unincorporated areas.”

“Maintaining this annual connection as a community couldn’t be more important in these challenging times,” McDermott said. “From the biennial budget process to important health and safety updates and direct access to County resources and decision-makers, I encourage as many residents of North Highline and Vashon as possible can take some time out of their busy evenings to join the conversation.”

“We hear every day how the lives of unincorporated King County residents have changed because of this pandemic,” Local Services Director John Taylor said. “And while we had to adapt our jobs in the age of COVID-19, our dedication to inform and hear directly from our communities remains strong. This year will be logistically different, but the spirit of these events is the same.”

Residents should keep an eye on Local Services’ website and Facebook and Instagram pages, and/or sign up for email and Nextdoor alerts, to get updates about these events.
