King County Sheriff’s Office deputies receive specialized training in investigating domestic violence crimes. This work begins when they are new recruits in Washington’s Basic Law Enforcement Academy and continues throughout their careers with the Sheriff’s Office.

Here’s more from police:

A team of dedicated detectives, focused on felony domestic violence cases, support deputies’ excellent field work by networking survivors with community resources and prosecutors to ensure suspects are held accountable.

All this training paid off on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, when White Center deputies responded to an apartment community. A woman called 911 after a former partner struck her in the face then kicked-in her front door. to retrieve belongings. The suspect fled by bike and was not located despite a search by a deputy and his K9 partner.

Thanks to a new deputy’s thorough investigation, a case was forwarded to King County’s prosecuting attorney recommending multiple domestic violence charges.

“We hope no community member ever feels the physical and emotional pain of domestic violence,” police said. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic please contact the Sheriff’s Office (206/296-3311) or visit this King County site for resources:
