Do you have an opinion on what local students are learning? Highline Public Schools plans to adopt new materials for language arts – and they want your input.

Your voice is important as they the district selects new language arts instructional materials for kindergarten through 12th grade.

The district will be holding eight public input sessions starting Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 (full schedule below).

This past spring, language arts curriculum adoption committees reviewed curricular tools and narrowed down the options. Explore videos, lessons and information on the Instructional Materials webpage. Families and community members are invited to join vendors and adoption committee members for question & answer sessions to delve deeper into content.

Your feedback will inform the committee’s recommendation to the school board in February. Materials will be introduced in the 2021-22 school year.

About the Process
In September 2019, Highline announced a kindergarten-12th grade language arts adoption process. See the timeline (planned and adjusted) and committee membership on the Instructional Materials webpage.

New materials ensure students have the highest quality instructional materials, regardless of whether students are engaged in distance, hybrid or in-person learning. During school closures Highline has continued to involve stakeholders in the adoption process, which includes teacher collaboration and ongoing feedback from school staff and community members.
