UPDATE: The first-ever virtual Empty Bowls fundraiser – held from Jan. 15–29, 2021 – raised $10,718 for the Highline and White Center Food Banks.

Not a bad pandemic pivot for the usual in-person fundraising event normally held at the Burien Community Center, which raised around $25,000 in 2020.

“Thank you Burien Community for helping us make the first virtual Empty Bowls event a success!”

Hosts Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services and Discover Burien would like to thank the following for helping make this event happen:

    • The B-Town Blog for promotion support
    • Highline and White Center Food Banks
    • SeaMar Community Health Center
    • Elliott Bay Brewing and Solstice Senior Living for videos
    • Burien Farmers Market for collecting donations
    • Potter Elene Tzetzos for providing her wonderful bowls for donations at the Farmers Market

“We look forward to seeing you in 2022 in person!” organizers said.
